ADU Ledger
Corrections, data, coverage

Contact

ADU Ledger is maintained by Ron Diver in Seattle, Washington. It is one person reading municipal code, not a company with a support queue — so the fastest way to get a useful answer is to say specifically what you think is wrong and where.

Reporting a rule that has changed

This is the message we most want to receive. If your city has amended its ADU rules and this site still shows the old ones, tell us the city and, if you have it, the ordinance number or adoption date. We re-read the code against primary sources, publish the change with its citation, and log it in the changelog — including the date we caught it. Corrections stay published rather than being edited away; you can see our own mistakes in there.

Disputing a citation

Every rule on this site names the code section it came from. If a citation is wrong, points at a superseded section, or does not say what we claim it says, that is a defect and we want to know. Quote the page URL and the rule, and we will re-check it against the codified text. If we were wrong, the correction is published with an entry explaining what happened, the same as any other change.

Reusing the data

The whole corpus is available at /data as JSON and CSV under CC BY 4.0 — commercial use included, attribution required. You do not need permission and you do not need to ask. If you want a format we do not publish, a jurisdiction we do not cover, or an update cadence you can rely on, that is worth a conversation.

Requesting a city

We publish a city only after its rules have been read against the municipal code and then independently re-checked, which is why coverage grows slowly. Requests genuinely influence what comes next, particularly when you can say why — a project, a client, a jurisdiction where the published answers are wrong.

How to reach us

What we cannot do is tell you whether your specific project will be approved. Nothing here is legal advice, and no page on this site is a permit determination — the city counter is the only place that answer exists.
